Many things have been going on that I can't really list all of them! I took into consideration of some of the things we talked about in class; theme, characterization, and conflict. So I would like to give a recap of the second part of the book, The Tortilla Curtain, so SPOILER ALERT!!!
America has had some rough times, from the men raping her and touching her. To Delaney and his frantic mind. The second part was a really rough time for all the characters. But it seems the conflict is still the same old thing. Surviving in America as a illegal immigrant, and the struggle with living in a gated community. Also the same old conflict of the horrible stereotype of illegal immigrants. America must be terrified for her life trying to get home from work everyday. Because some perverted, old, men usual try and chase her down. To either rape or talk to dirty to her. Besides that horrible stuff, America has to take care of Candido. This is how far I've read in this book. This book is a very emotional book, isn't it. Well, I am going to read more of the book. Until the next part is finished; I will write another blog post.

I have been reading The Tortilla Curtain lately in class, I thought I would explain what has been going on in my book. Just as warning, SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!
The book starts with one of the main characters, Delaney, hitting the other main characters, Candido, with a car. Candido is alright but Delaney is worried sick about him. Candido gets up in bad shape but alright. Candido gets $20 from Delaney as a sorry and leaves. Delaney drives home in a gated community while Candido goes to valley that he camps in. While Delaney has troubles with his life, Candido struggles to survive with America. That is what I have read so far. |
